Spring 2008 - Lara and I took a quick trip to Washington DC to catch Sasha & Digweed at Ibiza and to do some sightseeing during the Cherry Blossom Festival. At the end of April, we vacationed in California. We spent two days in San Diego, where we stayed on the beach in Pacific Beach, went hiking at Torrey Pines, and spent an afternoon at the San Diego Zoo. Then we went to all three days of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival near Palm Desert, where we saw tons of great DJs, Kraftwerk, Portishead, Prince, and Roger Waters! We also went hiking in Palm Canyon. - Allen (June 6, 2008, 10:26 pm) Winter 2007 - This holiday season was a lot of fun. Lara and I went to the Halloween costume party at the Chinatown Inn, saw the Blue Man Group at Mellon Arena, and caught a great set from DJ Luke Fair at Privilege for Thanksgiving. Then I met up with my sister and parents in Berlin for a family vacation, during which we enjoyed mostly the Bavarian region of Germany. I took Lara to Washington D.C. for a Cosmic Gate concert at Fur nightclub. Finally, we rung in the New Year dining at Ibiza in the Southside and then attending the Humanaut party at Chinatown Inn. In 2008 so far, we have enjoyed the Celebration of Lights at Hartwood Acres and the Chihuly Nights glass show at Phipps Conservatory. - Allen (May 15, 2008, 12:42 am) Fall 2007 - In June, I visited Montreal for the first time and really enjoyed it. Tracy and I went on a tour of old Montreal, saw the fascinating Body Worlds exhibit, and relaxed at the Picnik Electronik. After that, I began a new job as a web developer at Fireman Creative, an advertising, design and public relations agency. The new gig has kept me pretty busy so far. I did make it to Washington DC for an awesome Rabbit in the Moon concert in August and walked around the National Mall. The last few weekends I have been hiking in the Pittsburgh region, which has been nice. - Allen (May 15, 2008, 12:42 am) Fall 2006 - I recently began a new job as a software engineer, web developer, and graphic designer at RJ Lee Group. I will continue to do some independent web design on the side. In September, Tracy and I spent a week on the West Coast. We attended a wedding in Seattle, where I saw a lot of good friends from college. Then we drove through the beautiful scenery of Washington state, the Oregon coast, and the Bay Area of California. Since returning, we have been to a Tool concert, seen the Blue Man Group perform, and caught a Demetri Martin comedy show. The fall colors are nearing their peak, and we plan to enjoy them this weekend.eak, and we plan to enjoy them this weekend. - Allen (May 15, 2008, 12:41 am) Summer 2006 - Since my last update, I spent Christmas in Colorado with my family and New Year's Eve with friends in Pittsburgh. I have been continuing my independent web design as well as searching for a full-time position here in Pittsburgh. For the past four months, I have been dating a great girl named Tracy. It is summer now and I am spending most of my time indoors because the weather is too hot for me. I am enjoying the summer atmosphere, but looking forward to the fall weather. - Allen (May 15, 2008, 12:41 am) Winter in Pittsburgh - It has been close to a year since my last news update. During that time, I have continued working on web design projects and some classwork. I have met a lot of new and interesting friends, while attempting to avoid neglecting the usual suspects. I have had several opportunities to travel on short trips in my region (e.g. DC, NYC, Baltimore), but nothing major like last year's Europe trip. My photo section is one of the few areas of my site which has been consistently updated, so you may want to check that out to fill in the gaps left by this "blog". The winter here in Pittsburgh has been a cold one so far, and I am increasingly tempted to consider moving somewhere with a better climate. - Allen (May 15, 2008, 12:40 am) New York City - I just returned from a four-day weekend trip to New York City, where I met with friends, tried a variety of restaurants (Vietnamese, Sushi, Italian, diner), saw the orange gates exhibition in Central Park, went shopping on Fifth Avenue, walked around Manhattan, and checked out a couple of club nights, including an awesome DJ set by Roger Sanchez at Crobar.
